At Aussie Cut we believe that a tight budget doesn’t prevent you from creating your dream kitchen!
We have some handy hints and trade tricks we want to share with you about reducing the cost
of your DIY KIT kitchen.
1. Don’t Skimp on Quality
This might sound confusing at first but choosing a higher quality product is better value than going with a cheap but low-quality option. If you select high-quality materials and fixtures, your flat pack kitchen will be much more durable and longer lasting.
At Aussie Cut, your choices of high quality materials are almost endless. For doors, drawer fronts and panels, some popular choices include; laminated MR MDF board, 2 pack lacquer and thermolaminated vinyl wrap. The materials used for cabinets and benchtops are vital in the longevity and appearance of your kitchen. Cost, maintenance, and aesthetics are all something to consider when deciding on the best materials.
We are market leaders in supplying the highest quality, locally manufactured, cut to size cabinets. Aussie Cut KIT Kitchens are manufactured using state-of-the-art CNC technology and we ensure we’re bringing you the highest quality materials on the market. Our flat packs are also built with Blum hardware: their lift mechanisms, hinges and drawers systems are world-renowned for their quality, durability and functionality.
2. DIY vs. Ready Assembled Cabinets
A great way of cutting costs is to install your flat pack kitchen yourself as a DIY project. This is the alternative option to hiring an installer to put in your kitchen. There are two different options with this; DIY flat pack or ready assembled cabinets.
If you have the time and means to assemble your flat pack kitchen then this can save you a fair amount of coin and lower your budget. Otherwise you can meet in the middle and install yourself, taking out the stress of assembly but still cutting down on the cost of an installer.
3. Let’s Talk Soft Close
It’s no secret that soft close drawers are a more expensive product but there are a few hacks for getting around the budget dilemma.
The first option is to use a soft close attachment to smaller drawers that carry less weight as an in-between product. While it isn’t as impressive as full soft close, it will ensure your kids aren’t slamming their fingers in drawers.
The second option is to choose full soft close but only for the portions of your kitchen you know you will use more regularly, such as your cutlery draw and cabinet for drinking glasses. This leaves only the things you reach for less like your pots and pans drawer or crockery cabinet without soft close.
