The Block 2018 has been full of tough judging so when Kerrie and Spence received a PERFECT SCORE in kitchen week – it made clear that this was a design to take note of.
We’re dedicating this post entirely to how you can recreate this winning kitchen in your latest home renovation. We will be talking through the designs to ask for, specific materials to select and other details the Aussie Cut team will need to pull together your Block inspired kitchen.
A lot of the scoring had to do with $27k fridge and $18k wine cooler. We think that emulating the cabinetry will inject enough sophistication and modern luxe into your kitchen – so there is no need to run out and spend the amount of a house deposit on appliances.
This kitchen has two main components – the front veneer of the kitchen and the large Butler’s pantry. This functional space appears as large as the main kitchen and keeps the mess of cooking out of eyesight when entertaining.
Now let’s get into those promised details of what to ask for when recreating this kitchen style.
The darkest shade of the kitchen and used to frame the fridge and oven appliances is thanks to Laminex ‘Burnished Wood’. This colour is available in a natural finish for a subtle woodgrain without the texture. Otherwise ‘Burnished Wood’ in the nuance finish is the perfect way to add dimension to your space.
Laminex ‘Moose’ was used on the rest of the cabinetry – a modern stone grey that leaves the kitchen with a neutral finish.
